Texas offers acreage in 2008 winter sale

The Texas General Land Office will conduct its winter lease sale Jan. 15 at its Austin, Texas, office.

The sale will include 152 tracts in bays, lakes, islands and bayous. The Gulf of Mexico tracts offered include 43 Brazos tracts, 19 Galveston tracts, 67 High Island tracts, 100 Matagorda Island tracts, six Mustang Island tracts and six North Padre Island tracts.

Gulf of Mexico and bay tracts containing 640 acres (except shoreline tracts) are divided into N/2 and S/2 for nomination and bidding purposes (NE/2 and SW/2 in the Galveston Bay and Corpus Christi Bay systems). Gulf of Mexico tracts containing 5,760 acres are divided into N/2 and S/2 of each quarter (720 acres) for nomination and bidding purposes.

The reception, sponsored by DrillingInfo, Jebco and Seismic Exchange Inc., will be held the night before the sale at Third Base Bar & Grill in Austin.

The state's spring lease sale is scheduled for April 1, 2008. Consideration will be given to all nominations received at the Texas General Land Office on or before Jan. 29.
